2017 Faiveley

Our favourite red Burgundy vintage to drink now

2017 is our favourite red Burgundy vintage to drink now. With bright acidity and juicy fruit, many of the wines are just beginning to develop both aromatically and texturally – although the best have plenty of potential to mature further. Faiveley’s 2017 premier crus exemplify this perfectly. With this in mind, we have just taken delivery of three of our favourites: one each from Chambolle, Gevrey and Nuits.

Faiveley is a house we hold in high regard. Smaller than many of its ilk, it benefits from a sizeable vineyard holding. Significant investment in the winery in recent years has led to greater precision in the wines. Faiveley have enlarged the grape reception area, installed tronconic fermentation vats and remodelled the cellar to allow for a greater range of maturation options. The wines that result are refined and elegant – and tend to be accurate representations of vintage and terroir.

2017 was an excellent year in Burgundy. The reds are classic in style yet display no shortage of fruit and typically have fine tannins.

These wines from Faiveley come highly recommended.
