Taittinger

Taittinger is one of the largest family owned houses in Champagne. Its substantial vineyard holdings supply around 40% of grape requirements. The house style at Taittinger is one of purity and finesse.

Taittinger is arguably the leading exponent of the Blanc de Blancs style. Their top bottling, Comtes de Champagne, is a blanc de blancs made from grand cru grapes from top Cote des Blancs villages: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger and Mesnil-sur-Oger. Most vintages of Comtes de Champagne see a maximum of 5% oak to preserve the freshness of the style. Comtes de Champagne is complex and ageworthy, and represents excellent value when compared to many other tete de cuvee wines.

There is also a Comtes de Champagne rose, made in much smaller quantities. Previously made in an earlier drinking style, since the 2007 vintage more Pinot Noir and longer lees ageing have been used vintage to produce more structured wines.

Taittinger’s standard vintage Champagne also comes highly recommended.
