Bollinger La Grande Annee 2015

Bollinger La Grande Annee 2015 is the new release from Bollinger. Only made in the best vintages, La Grande Annee displays the power, richness and complexity that are emblematic of Bollinger. The 2015 vintage has been highly praised by the critics: Antonio Galloni rates it 96 points and Champagne specialist Richard Juhlin gives it 93-95 points.

2015 was a dry, sunny vintage in Champagne, producing wines of generosity and depth. Happily for Bollinger, Pinot Noir did particularly well this year. As always, Pinot Noir predominates in the blend for La Grande Annee. The 2015 consists of 60% Pinot Noir, mainly from Ay and Verzenay, and 40% Chardonnay, largely from Chouilly and Oiry.

As is customary at Bollinger, the base wine for La Grande Annee was vinified in small oak barrels, creating richness and roundness. The final wine matures for seven years in Bollinger‘s cellars in Ay, with the long period on lees giving intensity and finesse.

This is a superb iteration of one of Champagne’s best-known vintage cuvees. Fans of Bollinger‘s rich, textural Champagnes should not miss it.
