Comte de Vogue 2022: “sensuality and perfume”

Comte de Vogue 2022 is the second vintage by new winemaker Jean Lupatelli at this prestigious domaine. The wines this year show that the changes made by the new team are already paying dividends. “Delivering sensuality and perfume but also more depth and substance” says William Kelley in the Wine Advocate, “the 2022 vintage builds on the progress of 2021″. 2022 is an excellent vintage for a historic domaine on an exciting trajectory.

Domaine Comte de Vogue benefits from some of the very best vineyards in Burgundy. Comte de Vogue is almost synonymous with Musigny: it owns around two thirds of the whole appellation. The vineyard holding encompasses some of the best terroir: the entirety of the lieu-dit Les Petits Musigny, and much of Les Grands Musigny as well. Alongside the red, very small quantities of white Musigny are also made. From a single plot on the other side of Chambolle comes Bonnes Mares, the most firmly structured of the domaine’s wines.

Refining the expression of this superlative terroir is Jean Lupatelli’s aim. To do this, he has made small but significant tweaks to the production process since his arrival in 2021. The team now use small crates for picking, move the must and wine by gravity rather than pumping in the winery and they have altered the cooperage. The latest innovation is using some whole bunches in the blend in 2022. The results speak for themselves; the critics have been enthusiastic about the wines .

This is an exciting time for one of Cote de Nuits’ oldest and most prestigious estates.
