Cecile Tremblay

Region

Burgundy

Cecile Tremblay makes wines that have a cult following.

She is the great-granddaughter of Henri Jayer’s uncle, Edouard Jayer, and she runs a tiny 4 hectare domaine based in Morey St Denis.

The domaine has been biodynamically farmed since 2016. In the winery, some whole bunches are used, with the central stem cut out. This is a labour-intensive approach borrowed from Leroy (no less) that gives a subtle effect.

Cecile Tremblay makes a superb Bourgogne Cote d’Or. Village wines comes from Vosne Romanee, Chambolle Musigny, Morey St Denis and Nuits St Georges. She also make two grand crus: Echezeaux (du Dessus, from the centre of the appellation) and Chapelle-Chambertin.
