Marc Sorrel

Domaine Marc Sorrel is known for outstanding old vine Hermitage. With just under 2.55 hectares under vine, this is an estate of miniscule proportions – and production is almost entirely sold on release. The flagship wine is Hermitage Le Greal.

Le Greal comes from old vines in two of Hermitage’s best lieux-dits: Greffieux and Le Meal (hence the name Le Greal). Guillaume Sorrel, who took over Domaine Marc Sorrel in 2018, has continued with his father’s philosophy of traditional, low interventionist vinification. He mainly uses whole bunches, and ages the wines in old oak for up to two years. The style of the wine is powerful, with firm tannins, but complex and lifted aromatics.
