Domaine Joseph Roty is run today by Pierre-Jean Roty, the 11th generation of the family to work here. The domaine is known for its firm and powerful wines, which epitomise the style of Gevrey Chambertin. It is also famous for its old vines, many of which are over 50 years old. The jewel in the crown is the tiny production of Charmes Chambertin, which comes from vines which date back to 1881. The domaine also has holdings in Marsannay, and very good whites and roses are made as well as red.
