Five generations of Bertheaus have occupied Domaine Francois Bertheau in Chambolle-Musigny. The current incumbent (another Francois) has been in charge since 2004. The 6 hectare domaine’s holdings are exclusively within Chambolle and include vines in Bonnes Mares and top premier cru Les Amoureuses. The crop is entirely de-stemmed before a vinification lasting 2-3 weeks. A maximum of around 20% new oak is used and the wines are never fined or filtered. The domaine produces elegant wines, with soft tannins and subtle aromatics.
