Le Chiuse is located on steep slopes to the north of Montalcino in Tuscany. It is a tiny, 6ha with exceptional terroir: grapes grown on this land went into Biondi-Santi’s riserva for many years. This continued until 1993, when current owner Simonetta Valiani inherited the property and set up Le Chiuse.
Today, the vineyard is still planted with the original Biondi-Santi clones but has been converted to organic production. Yields are very low and the wines are up there with the best in Montalcino. Wines made include Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino and a Brunello Riserva Diecianni, only released after 10 years in the cellar.
